This 8 week course will teach you the core skill of ‘mindfulness’; a way of paying attention, on purpose and non-judgementally, and help you develop a deep sense of awareness of: yourself, your environment and those around you. It is a natural state of mind, calm, focused and aware. Rooted in the ancient Buddhist art of meditation, mindfulness can be learned and practised by anyone, no matter what their religious or cultural background.

Course Structure
MBSR is a highly researched and popular programme that cultivates mindfulness in everyday life, improving health and easing stress. The programme is based upon the work of Dr Jon Zabat-Zinn, our own work and other leading authorities in the world of neurobiology and meditation. Leading participants through an 8 week, step-by-step, personal development framework, the programme will provide learning, guidance and practice in various mindfulness techniques which involve sitting, standing and moving meditations providing you with the tools and techniques that will create an effective and dependable counter-balance to the stresses of life.
After each class, homework assignments are given which will include the commitment to undertake between 30 and 60 minutes per day practicing the techniques you have learned during the class. This facilitates the development and integration of mindfulness into our everyday life and over the duration of the course develops mindfulness skills into a sustainable practice.
The course can be challenging and most participants at some point are challenged or stretched in some way. The instructors are there to support you and free inter-session support is available during normal office hours.
As the course is based upon personal experience developed through theory, practice and group discussion, it is expected that all participants will make a strong commitment to attend every session. However, we understand that situations may arise meaning that you may be unable to attend a class, therefore, we allow a maximum of two classes to be missed. Each missed class will need to be made up prior to the next class on a one-to-one basis with the instructor at a convenient time for which an additional charge applies. If more than two classes are missed the instructors have the right to pro-rata a portion of the fee towards the next class cycle and suspend the current course attendance.

The 8 week course costs £150 which is payable in advance, a refund/cancellation policy is in place, full details will be provided at the time of booking.
Future Development Courses
This is a complete course and there is no obligation to undertake further courses. Refresher courses, retreat days and weekends will be available for all course participants to attend providing continued support and giving you the opportunity to maintain, support and further develop your mindfulness practice. Further details will be made available towards the end of the course or by subsequent newsletters.
